I've been playing Supreme Commander since it was released, and I've never had any real complaints about it until the last apartment that I lived in. We noticed while trying to play (Direct IP tried, Hamachi, and Tunngle) multiplayer between friends, we could never get everyone to properly connect.
This issue only happens when two people from the same IP/household try to connect to the same server somewhere else. When this happens, it either doesn't allow the game to launch, or causes massive desync errors when it does. We pretty much gave up on the game entirely, and switched over to supcom2 since it runs through Steam.
The really odd thing is that we recently all purchased Total Annihilation off of gog.com so that we could soothe our nostalgia, and the same exact problem cropped back up. Everything starts great so long as two people don't join from the same house.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated so that we could keep playing two of our favorite games of all time. (BTW I'm an IT professional, so it's not something simple like port forwarding).
tl;dr When two people join an external server from the same IP, the game won't start because they lose connection to each other.|||You need to change the games to allow multi acce port eg from 6112 to 6113 on one of the game access under the same ip may not work.|||Prikev|||My friends and I play on Hamachi. If multiple people are at the same house, none of us will connect to each other, just the host.
If you have someone in your group who is playing solo from a location, have him host and it will work fine.|||I had my cousin round my house recently to play supcom over hamachi and it worked perfectly.
