Very VEEERYYY interesting....

SupCom and FA have been ported onto the game service Onlive. Some may know about it, hate it, love it (like me), or know nothing about it. But in this case THQ is still about to make more money off of it, it doesnt get unlocked till Feb 15. I cant wait to see how much i can make the game do before i cause the Onlive servers to get owned lol.
Just wanted to let you guys know since apparently no one has posted about it yet and to see what your thoughts are.|||Nice, I wish I could finally try OnLive, none of my locations provide a good enough ping to let me ;). From what I hear OnLive was able to increase the quality of the video recently and I hear good things from Europeans who are able to try as well, even though there are only US servers so far.|||I wonder how much bandwidth that will take. I'm sure an 8-player game on an 81X81 map with highest settings will involve a lot of data. Also, would this version have simspeed slowdown? After all, there has to be a computer running the game over at OnLive sites. And what about multiplayer? Would it use an OnLive version of GPGNet? Or would OnLive replace GPGNet functionality (GPGNet just hands out IP addresses as far as I know)? So many questions.
So now we are waiting on Steam to have SupCom1. Almost every other DD system has SupCom and FA: Impulse, GamersGate (I think), Direct2Drive, Games for Windows Marketplace, OnLive. If only it was actually released on Steam (I believe there is an app ID for SupCom and FA on Steam, but they aren't active).|||Yea im really curious too...so many things i wanna know. The wait is going to kill me T_T A steam version would also be nice as well. All i can say is now we know THQ isnt hiding FA in a shell as its obviously being re released right now...if only it had more performance issues addressed =/|||By the way, what's the source for your info? I can't find anything about SupCom or FA on the OnLive website or the client.|||Hi,
sad that the 3603 patch is not officially supportet.....
Have found after patching my FA to 3603, faster , more stable and much less ram usage ... (mhhh .. the RAM gain depends on the OS .. on my Main system with 64bit Win 2008 R2 serv i get only a little amount, around 300MB,on my secondary PC with 32bit Win 2003 R2 Serv i get from 2,8Gb to 1,6GB ram usage ! )
Maybe it will come get the Game an Steam App ....
Regards
R-TEAM|||Its so far only available in the play pack. Im subscribed to it so thats why i can see it:

I thought the game ran in a peer-to-peer topology meaning each person playing the game will load the game and run the simulation locally on their
home pc.
What does this system do differently?|||Stin|||To play against someone not using OnLive, both of you would need to be running GPGNet. Which means that cluster needs to have Windows, or Mono at the very least.
If there's multiplayer it will most certainly be LAN only. That LAN would be the OnLive cluster.
No, since it's been well established that Sup1/FA is basically dependent on clock speed, sim speed will be determined by how fast the cluster is running. It's not going to be faster than a PC at all. It'll match a decent PC in most cases, but never beat it.|||So much...internet speak... Image|||i'd prefer to eat our pink's arse than play anything via onlive.|||BulletMagnet|||What about it?|||madface|||I'm not sure he even knows what OnLive is...|||I dont think he does either lol o-o|||The only mode available is the Single Player Mode.
You can read it on the Screenshots given by Max.
So it's cool that this game is playable on this Onlive thing but this will not help the "rebirth" of the FA community (or what's left).
:/|||BulletMagnet|||maxfreak|||So i played FA which was unlocked today. Everything is perfect, load times are nonexistent and lag is amazingly nonexistent as well. Only 2 things are hindering the experience.
1st being the game looks...blurry, like you know when a youtube video is being played on 240 resolution instead of 320 (i believe thats the number xD) there is a big difference. I'll be including some screenshots below.
The 2nd being that the sound has been kinda removed in a way. You only hear certain sounds from other players but MOST of your own.
The 3rd which i am now adding because i remembered is how sluggish mouse movement is. Dawn of War II on Onlive had this issue too. Your mouse movement feels very very heavy...i looked for a mouse sensitivity option but theres only options for the keyboard. -_-
Heres the screenshots, oh and yes there is no multiplayer:

I'd say for such a hardware intensive game, those drawbacks aren't so bad.|||Test it on a huge game with 81X81 maps, 7 AIs, 1000 unit cap. See how long it holds up.|||Yea true, Rega you have a point. Also X can do, i'll get to that tonight =P
