Finally decided to buy Supcom the other day from Direct2Drive. Anyhow after downloading the installer I ran it and it got to about the DirectX installation portion and my computer just shut down. So I restarted, install didn't start going again so I started it up again. At the exact same point my computer shut down again.
I did some searching and someone said that it was a bad installer so I re-downloaded the installer thinking maybe it had gotten corrupted, tried it again and same problem as before. So out of desperation I asked a friend who owns the physical disc version of the game if I could borrow his disc and install it from that and he said sure. So once again I went to install it and once again at the exact same point it shut my computer down.
So basically I run the installer, it starts installing, gets to the directx install part and then forces a hard shutdown of my computer and I have to hit the power to boot my computer up again.
Computer Specs:
OS: Windows 7 Pro (64bit)
CPU: Intel i7-860 quad core
GPU: nVidia GTX-470
RAM: 8GB DDR3-1600
Hopefully we can figure this out, I really would like to play but I won't be able to if this keeps happening (not to mention I will have wasted $20 on a product that was no good before I even got it set up). So my fingers are crossed that it's a problem that can be fixed.|||Ok here's something really weird. I turned off all my services as outlined here as well as "install for all users" and "install GPGnet shortcut". I also hit the direct x installer button on the setup popup and it said I had a newer version and didn't need to install (makes sense as I have DX11).
So it started installing and actually got past the direct x part and started installing files. I was a bit excited and was hoping it would work this time. Anyhow it got all the way to the end of the install where it had installed pretty much everything and then for some reason it started trying to install Direct X again and my computer shut down yet again. However this time the shutdown was a reboot as opposed to a total shutdown. I hoped that this was just the game finishing things up but when it came back up the setup screen popped up and still had an install button not a play button. Looking at the directory it looks like I have pretty much everything installed except for the actual supreme commander exe that runs the game itself.
I really need help with this and would love it if anyone would say something about this.|||what other programs do you have that may interfer wiht the install?
Somehtink on teh os maybe maknig this happen|||reddev33|||supcom does not need the req to run has gpgnet been installled without problems and can you get online?|||reddev33|||i have an idea but i can't be sure it will work.
uninstall all supcom, fa and gpgnet if you ahve it installed.
download and run this http://gpgnet.obliteratingwave.co.uk/Do ... .5.225.zip
then try to reinstall supcom.
its kinda a long shot.|||Thanks for the help with this. What I ended up doing is finally bugging THQ until they got back to me on this. They said it was a driver issue with my GPU so I updated it and it worked. So yea for anyone who has this problem try checking that your video card drivers are up to date and then try to install it again.
