I have the final release of Service Pack 1 for Windows 7, 64 bit. The pack fixes several major and minor bugs with Windows 7, as well as improving on the performance of Windows and Windows based programs.
I checked this with a friend who also has the pack installed, the lag is considerably reduced when playing an intensive game of Forged Alliance. This however does not mean the game will never slow down, because at some point, the game will slow when it hits a hardware or software wall when stressed beyond it's capabilities. But for anybody with Windows 7 and Service Pack 1, this is great news.
I would like to hear from others who have the final release of Service Pack 1 for Windows 7; not the RC version.|||It's not out yet?

If it is.. link me up and i'll download it, and get back to you when I can.|||You need a Microsoft TechNet Subscription to get the Win7 SP1 before release date; otherwise you can only access the RC beta until release date.|||As far as I know SP1 for Windows 7 barely contains any new features or improvements we haven't seen before. SP1 almost exclusively contains patches and updates that have been released before. Therefore it surprises me to hear any claims that SP1 should provide any improvements on performance at all. Have you run any benchmarks or have you noted the reduction in simulationspeed as an FA-game progresses?
I do plan to do a format and reinstall Windows 7 after the release of SP1, though.|||Simulation speed stays at 0. It's almost like that hexed exe that forces the simulation speed to stay at what you set it at, but without the hexed exe.
Yesterday I played an 8 player map with 1000 units. Sim speeds stayed at 0. However I did notice frame skipping when I zoomed into areas with concentrations of units, but the simulation speed stayed the same at 0.
Also, I am speaking on these forums because of the results I have seen first hand after applying the SP1 to Windows 7. It would be best to see the results first hand yourself. I am more interested in hearing about what you know, not what you speculate. I hope that you will be happy with the results you find, as much as I am after applying SP1 to Windows 7.
The same awesome results were repeated on my friend's computer, which shows that this is something that will happen to all those who apply SP1 to Windows 7 and play FA.|||We'll see tomorrow.|||Sorry to bump an old topic, but did anybody else find an improvement of performance?|||I run a pretty decent pc already so if there was an improvement, it may have been so small I didn't notice.
