Help with Resource Sharing

I would like some help to understand resource sharing on Forged Alliance.
How does mass and energy sharing between team mates work ?
What exactly gets shared and when does it get shared ?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of sharing resources with team mates ?|||When your storage is full, and you're producing more resources than you consume; then you'll give your excess to your teammates.
Conversely, if your mates have full storage they'll attempt to share their excess with you.
The advantages are obvious; instead of wasting resources, your mates get to use them. Disadvantages are small, but potentially deadly; if you rely on your mates economy and don't support your own, there will be times at which mates stop sharing.
