My top 13 newbie questions: how to upgrade to tech 2 etc...

I'm playing Forged Alliance using UEF.
1. How do I upgrade my factories to tech level 2?
2. How do I repair attack bombers?
3. What do hydrocarbon deposits look like and where do I find them in the map?
4. Is there a way to make the size of the icons bigger and readable in strategic view?
5. What is the most popular mod available for FA? Are there mods which use 'modern' warfare units (something like the game 'Generals' or maybe even using a World War II theme, etc.)
6. In selecting a map for skirmish play is there a way to spawn at a specific place of my choice? In two player maps I would rather play from the bottom position of the screen with the enemy AI on top of the screen, or in certain maps I would like to be in a more favorable position.
7. Is there a list (a spreadsheet or table would be great) available which details each unit's specs such as 'hitpoints', unit costs, weapon ranges, etc.?
8. I found this great 'feature' in FA by pressing the ` key which accesses the console command line. I have seen webpages that explain what the parameter definitions are but I have not been able to find info on what the default value is and the allowable value ranges are for each parameter. Are these available somewhere?
9. When I select my ACU I can see that it displays three circles around it. These are apparently weapon range indicators. What is the difference between the three circles?
10. I really like using the bombers. However I don't know how to control them. How do I attack and destroy selected targets and automatically return to a specific location in my base?
11. What are build templates?
12. While I am playing a skirmish game, how do I find the name of the map I am using in the game without re-starting the game?
13. The Seraphim were using this really cool protective bubble when they attacked me in one game. How do I disable this layer of protection so that I can shoot them down?

Follow-up questions:
Item #2 (how to repair bombers). I can't get the UEF T1 Engineers to repair the bombers. What should I do instead?
Item #6 (fixed spawn). I tried to changed the location of my ACU in the minimap while in the Skirmish Setup screen. It refuses to move. How is it done?
Item #9 (3 circles around the ACU). These are range indicators. I take it that starting with the first circle closest to the ACU, these circles are minimum, maximum, and visual ranges? Can you confirm?

Did you try before or after adding AIs? You need to doing before because if the slot is already filled you can't move to it. Otherwise you could just do it via the slots where your name is listed as well, they act as drop down menus and one of the options for an empty slot should be to "occupy this slit" or something like that

I was doing it after adding AIs. It works if I do it before adding AIs. Great tip. Thank you much.

By the way, how do you display actual images instead of links in your posts in this forum?|||Aha. The closest ring is the minimum range of the ACU's missile launcher (you get that via building an upgrade). There's a thicker ring much much further out which marks the maximum range.
The next ring you see (the thick red one) is the maximum range of the ACU's gun.

The final ring is Omnisensor range (which is like radar, except that it detects stealth and cloaked units as well). As an aside note, the ACU's Omnisensor matches its sight range. There's other units and buildings with Omni. that have much further range.|||bofhlusr|||BulletMagnet|||Oh right.

But, far off the screen is a fourth ring. If you zoom out a bit, you'll see it.|||I believe DLC units are the units that were added in free patches to SupCom original and are also included in FA. Those are units like the Janus UEF T2 fighter-bomber, the Mercy guided missile, and the Absolver T3 shield destroyer. FA units should be under a separate restriction called expansion or Forged Alliance. I don't remember exactly since I haven't played FA in several months.|||X-Cubed|||OrangeKnight|||X-Cubed
