TBO and Gowerly's Second Tournament - 14th August

[:1]Hi guys!
Due to the success of the first tournament, we're going to do another in just over two weeks, on Sunday, the 14th of August at 1900 CEST
Format is the same as before. We will pick out 5 maps (haven't decided on them yet), and you can battle it out on them for the amusement of myself and others.
Prize pool is, as yet, unknown, but due to the fact that the last winners donated the money back, it'll be at least 50 Euros ;)
Tournament will be up on the Schedule shortly after this post goes up. Register on there if you want to enter, post on here to
- say nice things about us or
- post info on yourself such as where you are, your faction, a picture of yourself, whether you like walks on the beach, etc, so that we can show all that cool stuff about you pre-game.
Thanks!
Gowerly|||I'm looking forward to the 2nd tourney. You guys did a great job on the first one and it was very enjoyable!|||they donated the money back... lawl|||That is a sign of good sportmanship imo. It's not about the money but about fun and bragging rights! =P
I wonder if you guys could start the tourney maybe one hour earlier this time. I know it kinda sucks for the US players to get up early on Sunday but it's even worse for the EU players who have to go to work on the next day. It got pretty late. Just an idea.|||Col. The 3603 was not being activated because we were stupid and let someone spectate. That will not happen again.
For now GPGNet gives us everything we need to run the tournament successully.|||Oh well. Still, its great that you guys are doing this!
You might want to look over your stream from last time and think about some ways to avoid certain simple issues.
For example, constantly zooming in and out to get around the map doesnt work so well on video streams. If you are only travelling a short distance, then panning the camera with arrow keys seems to work more smoothly, etc.|||Yeps, the zooming was a little extreme, panning and using the minimap for moving like starcraft would be nicer for the viewer point of view.
Good thing you do another tourney ! Count me in ! (Same infos as last time :)|||I'm so used to the zoom in FA that I didn't notice to be honest.|||TBO is aware of his zooming.
The main problem is that you can't cast a fullscreen game, so you can't navigate by moving your mouse to the edge of the screen, which leaves zooming or using the cursor keys.
That is, unless someone wants to make a UI mod that allows you to move to where you click on the minimap!|||I tried using the minimap to move! But it doesn't work in SupCom - or am I doing something wrong?
I agree that my observing/zooming skills in SupCom are lackluster though - it's way easier in Starcraft 2.
Gowerly, doesn't middle-click panning work too?|||Meh, I don't mind the zooming, but that's probably because I do it so much myself when I play. My perspective is about what a giant kangaroo on crack would see if it looked down while moving through the battlefield  . At least in SupCom2, I haven't played FA in ages.
Seriously though, it actually annoys me when a caster leaves it at one zoom level the whole way through. Either I can't tell what's going on (it's too zoomed in) or I don't get to see the pretty graphics (too zoomed out). Maybe less zooming if it bothers people, but you really do need to switch between zooming in on the battles (eye candy) and zooming out to see the tactics and strategy of the battlefield as a whole.|||I think its fine to zoom out and then zoom in to some faraway part of the map. I guess when you do so, pretend that the "zoom out" part is intended to give the viewer a glimpse of the overall situation, so do your zooming a bit more slowly.
The problem comes where I noticed sometimes you would repeatedly quickly zoom in and out to "crawl" the camera a short distance to the side. That really messed up the stream.
Whats wrong with using arrow keys to pan? Usually I use arrow keys anyways - screen edge is too finicky for me. What do you use your keyboard hand for when casting? Middle button drag also works, if thats more comfortable for you.|||i will take part.

The last tournament was great, especially the nice overlays and stuff, props to TBO.
Two more suggestions: Please, please, PLEASE turn off the overlay ingame *__*
and second: Can you make another VOD? It was awesome until it stopped at around 80%. Still havent seen the actual finals =( Id would be awesome if you could make that work this time. ♥
Still this is complaining on high level. Keep up the great work! Your my heroes.
